The current election system in the United States has created a government in which the extreme sides of each party are over-represented while moderates and independents are under-represented. Politicians cater to the desires of the extremes because that is where the money for their re-election comes from. Requiring that all citizens of voting age cast a ballot in each election will create a government which be more representative of the people, and will reduce the control that the extreme sides have over elected officials.
