Propose Const. Amendment: Dissolve the Senate and Transfer its Powers to the House; Mandatory Voting; Filibuster Reform.

Created by D.B. on March 01, 2012

Congress is dysfunctional and needs to be fundamentally fixed. Gallop polls from the past 18 years demonstrate how the majority of Americans rarely approve of Congress.

Dissolve Senate:

– Eliminates an undemocratic form of representation based on the states rather than on the people.
– Eliminates redundancy in the leg. branch and the time a bill wastes going to the Senate for changes.

Mandatory Voting:

– Leads people to get informed about candidates, issues, and policy.
– Ensures that reps truly represent their constituencies.
– Should be part of the social contract that Americans have with the US gov't. Participation allows gov't to function democratically and effectively.
– Already successful in other countries.

Filibuster Reform:

– Limits abusive/obstructionist filibuster use.
