propose a constitional amendment that states, "They get what we get"

Created by W.B. on February 18, 2013

Since Congress is supposed to be a citizen legislative body, and since Congress can't seem to agree on a fix to Social Security or Health Care reform we should have a means to see to it that ,"They get what we get.". The amendment would state that "They", meaning members of Congress, are entitled only to what the average American gets for retirement and health care. That would mean Social Security, possibly an employer assisted 401K, and employer assisted health care plan.
When members of Congress receive only what the average American receives for benefits, the incentive to ensure the solvency and functions of those benefits is much more likely to occur. It's harder to understand the position of other people when you haven't been in their shoes for a while.
