propose a Constitutional Amendment limiting the length of election campaigns (inc. primaries) to no more than 6 months.

Created by J.H. on October 12, 2011

By the time elections finally come around many Americans are sick of hearing about the candidates. The President is barely half-way through his term and is already making campaign-style speeches while other politicians - Governors, Members of Congress, Senators act likewise. This amendment would allow politicians to spend more time doing what we elected them to do - their job. It would also create more excitement and less annoyance for Americans going to the polls. "Election Season" would begin 6 months prior to the election with declarations of candidacy, followed by Primary elections three months before the election, allowing a period of three months for the final candidates to debate and make their opinions heard. Think of all the money saved by eliminating 18 months of campaigning.
