Mr. President,
The 2nd Amendment to our Constitution states:
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
The threats we face today are not the ones of the late 1700's. We have a capable military to defend our borders and a National Guard (militia) for internal needs. We ask you to propose that the 2nd be modified to say the following:
1)"With a standing Military and National Guard; the ownership of a weapon in The United States is considered a Privilage."
2)"'Weapon' is defined as ownership of 1 pistol and/or long barreled rifle."
3)"Weapons currently owned before adoption of this Amendment shall not seized except for those used in criminal acts.'
Thank you.
