Propose a constitutional amendment requiring independent commissions decide the boundaries of congressional districts.

Created by M.F. on October 20, 2013

Many of the current problems in Washington emanate from the rigid, ideological stance of many congressmen. Unfortunately, these politicians are doing exactly what they were elected to do: represent their constituents' values in Congress. The blame, therefore, does not lie with the individual politicians, but the hyper-partisan congressional districts created by state legislatures. To address this issue, California became the first state to draw its congressional districts using an independent commission. The undersigned would like to petition the Obama Administration to propose and support a constitutional amendment requiring independent commissions decide congressional districts in all states, beginning after the 2020 census.
