The majority of Americans have supported the Equal Rights Amendment at all times for more than 40 years. We would probably consider sanctions against any other country who were to refuse ratification in similar circumstances. For the USA to continue to be a worldwide leader on human rights, we need to set the clear example. We need for the President to propose that Congress, again, start the effort from scratch, get the 2/3 vote, then get ratification by 3/4 of the states.
