Few would argue that our government system is broken. Much of the blame for that lies in the career mentality of many representatives. Congressional Appointment was intended to be a voice of those currently within the community, not a career.
Our current environment empowers those who have spent the most time away from their communities and limits the power of new representatives. This hinders the ability of the people to effect reform through their vote.
This petition makes two requests of the Obama Administration. First, propose legislation on term limits not to exceed two six-year terms for senators and six two-year terms for congressmen. Second, do so in partnership with key Republican leaders and make this a true bipartisan issue.
