Propose a federal law to ban redistricting by legislative bodies.

Created by A.M. on October 31, 2014

In the majority of states in the Union, redistricting is dictated by the legislative and executive governing bodies of the state, resulting in widespread gerrymandering that guarantee district victories for one party. As a result, lawmakers become increasingly unaccountable to their constituents due to their assured victories in elections. Redistricting therefore should be done by a committee of citizens that accurately represent the diversity of the state they are redistricting, reducing the risk of gerrymandering.
