Legislators quickly lose touch with reality when the arrive in Washington and become professional politicians to the extent they are able to be re-elected. They spend much of their time raising money for the next campaign so they can continue to live the "good life."
If legislators were limited in their Washington stay, they would be much more interested in what is good for the nation rather than just what is good for their constituency at least in their last term. We would have many more successful business people willing to serve their states for short terms and we would have more "statesmen" in our Legislature
