The United States should bring back the practice of ostracism originally practiced in ancient Greece. Each year one American should be nominated for ostracism and banishment from the country for a term not less than nor exceeding one year. That person must leave the physical boundaries of the United States and its territories. Each state will be allowed to nominate one person by popular referendum. Then the state legislators will select delegates to the Council of Ostracizors. These members will then negotiate the list down to 5 candidates. A national vote will then determine the person to be ostracized. No sitting official is eligible for ostracism while in office. Once ostracized a person is not eligible for ostracism for 10 years after their return.
