Multi-term incumbents in Congress lose touch with their constituents where debts are paid and working together is not only for self-benefit. If the President is limited then should Congress not also be limited? It is time we have congressmen/women who actually fight for their constituents, not for reelection.
There are members on both sides who have been in office for more than 38 years, i.e.:
Patrick Leahy(D) since 1975; Thad Cochran(R) since 1973; Bill Young(R) since 1971; John Dingell(D) since 1955; just to name a few.
To solve the problem of career politicians I propose a plan of:
No more than 4 House terms and 2 Senate terms = no more than 20 years maximum Congressional tenure.
This will keep them more focused on what is right for the country and not just reelection.
