Propose legislation for electoral reforms conducive to a modern-day democracy

Created by R.M. on July 07, 2013

We petition this administration to promote the public discourse of electoral reforms, and suggest the following legislation that will secure the voice of the people in our democracy.

These reforms include, but are not limited to, the implementation of:
1.) a Proportional Representation voting system for legislators in a Multi-Party system, to give voice to minorities and third-parties by replacing First-Past-the-Post;
2.) Instant Runoff Voting for all elected officials, to save millions of dollars currently being spent on Primary elections;
3.) Universal Voter Registration along with Compulsory Voting to increase civic participation; and
4.) 100% Public Campaigns to get money out of politics by banning TV political ads, and ensuring equal media coverage for each party's candidate.
