Propose legislation to not ban but increase the strictness of assault weapons registration, to include psych evaluation.

Created by J.S. on December 22, 2012

Many many government agencies have concluded upon the relative ineffectiveness of our previous assault weapons ban. USDOJ, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, National Research Counsel, National Institute of Justice, etc. An assault weapons ban has little to no effect on gun crime. Our real solutions lie within responsible firearms registration practices and law enforced gun safety. Banning assault weapons and high capacity magazines does little but take away a SLIGHTLY advantageous weapon, especially against an unarmed foe. It's advantages are grossly exaggerated by our media and fairly inaccurate. With or without an assault weapon in hand, mass shooters will persist. Focus needs not be upon the gun but on the violence. The intent of our Second Amendment should not be toyed with.
