Propose legislation to protect Thanksgiving from retailers; And to ensure workers can enjoy the holiday.

Created by J.A. on November 07, 2013

With every passing year, retailers are opening earlier and earlier as a result of wanting to cash in on consumer greed. This year, some retailers are going to be open all day Thanksgiving, while others are opening as early as 5PM to 8PM, well within traditional Thanksgiving Day meal times. Both the retailers and consumers have shown no respect or concern for the workers forced to give up their holiday to participate in this disgrace.

Thanksgiving is a day supposed to be spent with family and a well deserved break from the hustle of daily life. And for many years it was so until so called Black Friday sales started getting earlier and earlier.

I urge the Obama administration to propose legislation to force retailers to close on Thanksgiving and not open until midnight the following Friday
