As a former community college attendee, much of the curriculum is comparable to high school coursework. Rather than attempt to make all community colleges free, we should revamp the high school system to give students a more valuable diploma. Many high schools offer tech programs but the primary diploma most students receive is of much lower stature. I believe that our society as a whole, would benefit from skilled labor (clerical to machining to management), coming directly out of high school. This could be a significant change to the education of all Americans, shaving off two years to acquire valuable skills while revitalizing our core education system.
