We emplore the president to propose legislation that stiffens the penalties and or sanctions imposed on prosecutors and police officers who tamper with, plant, destroy or withhold evidence.
There have been too many instances of people being exonerated, many after serving lengthy sentences. There have also been to many people wrongly executed only to be found innocent by dna or forensics.
For far too long, the system has placed to much emphasis on conviction rates over achieving justice. Quotas, motivate people to become self centered,jaded, inhuman, prejudice and in some cases; corrupt. The reality of imprisonment and/or capital punishment are to consequential for there to be incitives for such injustices, not to mention the economic impact that is borne by the tax payers.
