Whereas the Mars rover Sojourner represents the first rover to successfully navigate the surface of Mars, and that this rover created the science required to launch following missions namely Spirit and Opportunity and subsequent vehicles.
That the physical artifact which is the Sojourner rover vehicle maintains a remarkable position in terms of science and improved understanding of the Martian surface and environment.
As such this rover should be returned to Earth in conjunction with manned missions to Mars and displayed appropriately in the NASM in Washington D.C., serving as a reminder and example to the American people of the strength of human determination and the success of NASA and American commitment to achieving the goal of extra-planetary exploration.
