Student Loans represent the greatest obstacle to fiscal freedom for Americans. With the amount of loans on the rise and job prospects minimal, it is often hard for people to become free from these limiting restraints.
While the Public Forgiveness program in-place is admirable, more should be done to accelerate the forgiveness process. One of two adjustments should be made:
1) Once a person works in a qualifying field for 10 years, their student loans are forgiven (no more required time of payment).
2) After 5 years of making qualifying payments, the debt is forgiven.
Most Public Service workers have advanced degrees obtained while working. Why are they being punished for advancing their skills? Why not compensate them for that time? Fix this crisis Mr. President!
