Propose a revision to the 2nd Amendment, clarifying the rights of gun owners, outlawing private automatic weapons

The current wording of our constitution's Second Amendment is confusing and contentious. It's unclear what is meant by a "well-regulated militia" in the context of people arguing that individuals need to have the right to possess automatic weapons to defend themselves against incursions by legitimate authority or violent criminals. The resulting proliferation of automatic weapons has made our country a dangerous place. We have to have reasonable controls on guns. Amending the Second Amendment is one place to start.
