The many ways that the U.S. has cobbled together over the life of our nation to assess and collect revenue have become unworkable and extremely complex. The purpose of revenue collection is to provide the resources necessary to form a more perfect union by establishing justice, ensuring domestic tranquility, providing for the common defense, and promoting the general welfare. I propose that new revenue systems be created that are specifically tailored to meet these goals, and to appropriately tax the persons and entities, foreign and domestic, that financially benefit most from the stable infrastructure built, regulated and maintained by the U.S., while still asking everyone to contribute proportionally. Revenue should automatically adjust to match the spending proposed each year.
