A house divided cannot last. 47% of the people in the US pay no net federal taxes. Therefore they have no stake in wanting an efficiently administered federal govt. This is a huge moral hazard and increasingly, the other 53% who contribute feel this to be unfair and dangerous - because it is. The last decade has been hard for all of America - many young people in particular seem to view the traditional values that undergird the american dream, such as work hard to get ahead, as hollow. While creating a lower tax burden for them is noble, the irony is that it further disenfranchises them from the Country. But we are all in this problem together. And the only way out is for EVERYONE to contribute. So this petition calls for a progressive yet broader tax rate. And no loopholes!
