The United States and Papua new guinea are the ONLY countries without any paid time off for parents of newborns, especially mothers. ALL mothers deserve the protection and security of knowing they can tend to their newborn without worrying about job security. Crony capitalism and profiteering are taking over core family values. If republicans and democrats truly believe in family values, it is time to respect Mothers who gave us our lives, protected us, raised us, and nurtured us. It is time to meet the minimum standards of the rest of the modern world. Currently, the United States is last in yet another issue related to women and families.
Let American mothers have at least 6 weeks of federally mandated maternity PAID time off. America's future depends on its children.
