Firearms purchases from licensed dealers require the completion of Form 4473 before the dealer initiates a call for the instant background check.The dealer only places a call once the applicant has completed and signed the form indicating that there is no reason which makes them ineligible to purchase or own a firearm. A valid rejection through the instant check system means that the applicant has indeed falsified Form 4473 in violation of Federal law.
The government should protect law abiding citizens and prosecute such violations in a timely fashion or provide the means for local law enforcement to prosecute such violations in a timely fashion.
The Federal government must live up to its obligations to protect law abiding citizens by enforcing the laws already in place to do so.
