On December 8, 2014, the Senate Intelligence Committee released over 500 pages of documentation of a persistent torture campaign carried out by the CIA under orders from the highest levels of the organization and the government. This program included waterboarding, stress positions, repeated anal rape, and the threat (sometimes carried out) that detainees would be killed. This has irreparably hurt the reputation of the United States, contradicts all of our values, and must be punished. We can no longer turn a blind eye to the disgraceful conduct of our representatives, both elected and otherwise. The United States has always been the moral light of the world. It must continue to be so, but it cannot be until there is justice for the people we have tortured, many times to the point of death.
