We, the undersigned, respectfully call upon the President, the Secret Service, and the United States Department of Justice to investigate and prosecute Donald J. Trump for openly encouraging violence against Hillary Clinton and making assassination threats. He is a danger to free and open elections in this country. We ask the federal government to ensure the safety of our national election by protecting major candidates, including Hillary Clinton.
United States Code Section 879 of Title 18 prohibits “knowing and willful threats to kill, kidnap, or inflict bodily harm against the following categories of persons who are protected by the United States Secret Service…Major candidates for the Office of President and Vice President.”
