President Obama delivered a speech to the United Nation General Assembly saying that the United States would not ban blasphemy and would protect the rights of it's citizens to protected free speech - a guarantee of the United States constitution. Despite the president's remarks that the government would not ban blasphemy, six states currently have laws which make it a crime to speak out against religion, specifically the sectarian Christian god. These laws are illegal, and the Obama administration should act to force states to comply with the United States constitution.
Massachusetts, Michigan, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Wyoming all have laws which make blasphemy a crime. These laws are illegal and unenforceable and should be struck down immediately.
