With the recent release of additional photos and records pertaining to the abuse of prisoners by US troops and contractors, as well as continuing revelations about the nature of the abuses, the time for "looking forward, not back" is over.
It is now clear that authorization for the brutal rape and murder of detainees came from high up in the Defense department, and they knew what was going on. This was not a case of a few bad apples. Instead, there was a deliberate US policy of torturing prisoners to obtain false confessions for propaganda purposes. By "looking forward, not back", the administration ensures that this will happen again by eliminating any possibility of repercussions for the guilty parties. End this shameful chapter in our history by holding them accountable.
