I am writing to register my full support for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's (Service) proposed rule restricting certain controversial carnivore control measures promoted by Alaska on federal wildlife refuges in the state. Alaska has adopted a slate of by reducing numbers of wolves, bears and other carnivores across the state, including on national wildlife refuges. If allowed on refuge lands, these measures would undermine science-based management and federal authority to preserve the ecological integrity and biological diversity on refuge units.
