In the wake of social media, we hear more and more often of police harassing law abiding citizens and eventually arresting them with the only charge being "Resisting Arrest," without any sort of charge that would justify an initial arrest. How can the American people be expected to have full confidence in the legal system when such arrests, abuses of the legal system, are not even shocking to the American public? To restore public confidence in the legal system, we must ensure that the police forces of our country do not abuse the system they are meant to uphold. A good beginning to restore confidence in the legal system would be to make it a federal crime for a citizen to be arrested with the only charge being resisting arrest.
