Over 20% of veterans have been sexually assaulted while serving their country and it is estimated that 80% of sexual assaults in the military go unreported. Of these unreported assaults, 50% of women say that they did not report because they felt as though no action would be taken, and 25% of victims said they did not report because their rapist was their commanding officer. Military personnel do not have the same access to justice as civilians. The Military Justice Improvement Act (MJIA) S. 1752. takes sexual assault crimes out of the judicial hands of the military. Make a difference by urging the President to sign this bill. Members of our military have risked their lives for our freedom, we owe them justice.
