Protect Body Image and Self-Esteem

Created by M.S. on August 11, 2013

A lack of regulation in the media is putting Americans' body image and self-esteem in danger. The South Carolina Department of Metal Heath has estimated that 8 million Americans suffer from an eating disorder. Almost half of the American population personally knows an individual who suffers from an eating disorder. A number of studies have been done proving a connection between eating disorders and the media. So what if there was a way for Americans to know that the magazine ads we see are in fact edited? A simple word or symbol at the bottom of an advertisement could change the way we view our own bodies. We deserve the right to know if a body in a magazine is natural or edited. It is time to take action and protect body image and self-esteem.
