Protect Children By Banning Automatic Assault Weapons and Requiring Safety Training for Parents Who Purchase Guns.

This petition is being proposed by 2 Connecticut middle school students. The goal is to outlaw automatic weapons for civilians like us. In order to prevent another massacre like the one that happened in Newtown on the deadly day of Dec. 14, 2012, we urge Congress to ban weapons of the type that were used in Newtown by the shooter. If laws prevented access to these weapons, then our schools would be safer. Also, if parents want to purchase any gun, the law should make them take a mandatory training course. The mandatory training would cover the dangers of having children of all ages in the reach of a deadly weapon, and the proper use & safekeeping of said weapons. Non-violent conflict resolution would also be covered. Any parent buying a gun would have to take the training to get a permit.
