Apple CEO Tim Cook has started an excellent discussion on how we cannot depart from liberties and protections afforded by the American Constitution. Here is the letter from Tim Cook, please take a read.

We cannot use one specific incident as an excuse to undermine Constitutional rights of law abiding Americans. We petition you Mr President to please get involved and guide America in the right direction on this.
The right thing to do in this case would be to not create security loopholes that can be exploited easily by hackers & criminals not discounting any possible corrupt elements that could wrongfully use this private data for making profitable business decisions or deny services.
