Earlier this year, the NHTSA announced that an artificial intelligence driving a car can now be considered a driver. This is all great news, but it presents a danger. About three million people work in the transportation industry. These people work hard, be they taxi drivers, truckers, or pilots. But at the end of the day, they need sleep, pay, and vacation. Autonomous vehicles don't. It isn't hard to imagine a company deciding to cut costs in salaries, and increase productivity by upgrading to automated. Not long from now, those three million workers will find their jobs at risk. If we want to save those jobs, we need to ban the use of automated vehicles for commercial use. This ban will not target families and individuals, but companies which would otherwise hire employees.
