Protect Disabled People & American Employees Long-term Disability (ERISA) Benefits

Created by D.T. on August 10, 2014

Some States protect disabled clients short-term & long-term ERISA Disability benefits if you become ill or disabled while employed. We are seeking regulations for a standard nationwide fee that an attorney can charge a disabled client on their disability claim. My husband is disabled & his attorney quoted him fees for $10,000 to represent him to reinstate his disability benefits. The attorney sent my husband an agreement with three options; the attorney did not communicate his fees for $10,000 was only for 1 or 2 out of the 3 options on the contract. On the contingency option the attorney did not put in a fee amount nor did he put in a end date. The attorney changed his fees from $10,000 to $50,000 & trapped us in a contract to take $600 a month until the policy end in 23yrs.
