Too often when its time for budget cuts the first things to go are the funding for education and reducing the budget for public servants. The public complain that the public school system is flawed or inadequet, but what happens during budget crunching time? The public education systems get hit and get hit hard: teachers are fired or dont recieve raises, school days are shortened or eliminated, schools (some very good schools) are closed, studens don't have books or matierials they need. The other issue on the chopping block is typically public servants. Constantly threatened with layoffs, state prison closings, jails threatend with privitazion, law enforemnet dont have the equipment they need to serve, fire stations closed, and no raise.
