protect employees from being fired for legal marijuana use in states where marijuana has been legalized!

Created by R.C. on February 08, 2014

Voters have legalized recreational marijuana use in Colorado and Washington and it won't be long before other states do the same. Despite being legal in these states an employee can still be fired for LEGAL recreational use of marijuana! This means that people are being fired for exercising their legal right to consume marijuana outside of the workplace.
While it is understandable that employers do not want workers to be intoxicated in the workplace/during business hours, it is an infraction upon our rights to lose employment for partaking in a LEGAL activity. No employee can legally be fired for smoking a cigarette or drinking alcohol off the clock, so why is it legal to fire someone for smoking legal marijuana off the clock?
