protect Ex-Offenders under the Equal Employment Opportunity Act

Created by R.M. on March 21, 2013

It is illegal to discriminate based on Race, Color, Religion, Sex, National Origin, Disability, Age, and Genetics. This petition is to add the existence of a criminal record to the Equal Employment Opportunity Act. Those who completed their sentencing and are not required to register should be protected by the EEOC.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics March 12, 2013 News Release states there are 3.7 million available jobs. Employers are unable to find the right candidate, while they automatically deny those with a past felony conviction. 70% of ex-offenders are unemployed due to this injustice.

Ex-Offenders are deprived of many rights, but they deserve the same employment rights as the rest of the labor pool. The existence of a criminal record must be added to the EEOA.
