Thanksgiving and Christmas are national holidays that are suppose to be spent with loved ones giving thanks and reflecting. However, over the past few decades corporate america has helped to erode family values and foster an ever growing consumerism environment valuing things over people. I would like to see a national discussing on restoring family values and promoting togetherness. Thus, I propose all businesses (excluding emergency services and hospitals) must be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Additionally, no business shall open earlier than 6 am on the following day. Other countries, such as Britain limit business operation hours to help protect workers. It is time for America to stand together and reject corporate greed and promote the American Family.
