Propose legislation allowing Federal employees unfairly penalized by sequestration through furloughs of more than 10 days (discontinuous) to take a second loan from their own thrift savings account or to make a hardship withdrawal without being forbidden from continuing to contribute when they return to work. This will save the employees dignity, in some cases allowing them to feed their families and pay their bills without costing the government anything. Ensuring that Federal employees can continue to pay their bills will help minimize the potentially devastating effect of sequestration on our national economy.
