The NSA has requested several parody products be removed from the website zazzle.com on the claim that it violates, Public Law 86-36.
The removed merchandise is parody or satire and is protected free speech under the first amendment. Parody and satire is considered fair-use under copyright law.
Further, the merchandise is not in violation of Public Law 86-36 as it is clearly not endorsed by the NSA and is not, per Public Law 86-36, "reasonably calculated to convey the impression that such use is approved, endorsed, or authorized by the National Security Agency."
