Protect Future Public Servants by removing the 2015 Budget Provision to Cap the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program

Created by S.A. on November 04, 2014

President Obama's 2015 Budget proposal will change the Public Services Loan Forgiveness Program, which forgives outstanding student loan debt for borrowers who work full-time in public service jobs and make 120 payments on their loans. The Budget provisions will force all new borrowers after July 1, 2015 to register for a new Pay as You Earn repayment program and will cap the amount of their loans forgiven at $57,500. Most PSLF enrollees have much more debt than that. Many spend over a decade in graduate school and in order to apply their skills in much needed government and educational positions. We have a moral responsibility to protect those who spend their lives bettering the country and its people. We cannot leave future public servants drowning in debt.
