In order to protect the rights of gun owners, this petition seeks to have existing laws enforced and strengthened, without revoking the rights of lawful gun owners.
1. Change 3 calendar days to 5 business days for the FBI to complete background checks.
2. Increase number of "unannounced" or "maximum" inspections" by the ATF on FFL (gun dealers) from once per calendar year, to 3 times. Require ATF to inspect 33% of FFLs annually.
3. Any private gun sale, is required to be completed by a licensed dealer, or purchaser provides seller a document from a law enforcement agency of the state of residence showing a background check has been completed within the past 30 days; seller is then required to submit the completed transfer form to the same law enforcement agency within 30 days of sale.
