It is clear that some sort of action has to be taken. It is idiotic that we allow hundreds, even thousands of people to be killed every year in gun violence.
Some sort of commonsense action has to be taken. Banning weapons is not the answer, but we can make a safer environment for our children.
1) We can establish a short waiting period, just three days, after the purchase of a new gun before it can be picked up from the shop. Exceptions can be granted by the local police or sheriff's office.
2) Gun shows. Have the organizer of the show set up a booth where a background check can be done for a nominal fee ($5). Bring a paper back to the gun seller (including private sellers) showing that you're clean, and you can bring your weapon home that day. No paper, no gun. Simple, yet effective.
