During the recent problems with the budgets and debt ceiling, congress has threatened to halt military paychecks, veterans benefits and base services.
Congress has the power to deploy these same service members and have continued to increase the demand on the common soldier with little support to their health and welfare. This petition moves to protect the military members pay by making it illegal for congress to withhold pay and benefits to active, reserve and retired members of the military.
If congress and the president cannot approve a budget the forfeited pay should come from those involved as an incentive to cooperate towards and answer.
This puts the burden of a failure to finalize the budget on the shoulders of the men and women who control the outcome.
