The district court of washington DC recently shot down the FCC's ability to enforce net neutrality, a key principle of the internet today, which protects internet customers from unreasonable practices by internet service providers (ISPs).
Net neutrality is the idea that your internet service provider must treat all legal content on the internet the same. This means that they cannot block certain sites unless you pay additional fees, or limit access to sites which they do not like.
It might also be possible for corporations to pay ISPs to block or limit access to their competitor's sites, or sites which expose the dangers of their products.
This destruction of net neutrality is the first step towards a less free internet. Obama, please support the FCC in ensuring internet freedom!
