I believe that our government is not protecting innocent children as well as we could be. There has to be a change in our system, in order to make sure children have the chance to thrive and live in loving homes. In 2012, a nationally estimated 1,640 children died of abuse and neglect at a rate of 2.20 children per 100,000 children in the national population.Victims in their FIRST year of life (INFANTS!) had the highest rate of victimization at 21.9 per 1,000 children of the same age in the national population. 80.0% of child fatalities were caused by one or both parents and the total duplicated count of perpetrators was 893,659, which means almost a million times, someone has hurt a child AGAIN...often times resulting in death! The process has to change to help our children!!
