Currently, there are unnecessary zoning regulations in many areas of the United States. These regulations require dwellings to meet square footage requirements. These laws keep people from building compact homes. This is a problem because small homes require far fewer natural resources to build, maintain, heat, and cool. Requiring people to live in unnecessarily large dwellings wastes their money and our nation's precious resources. It forces many people to live in debt for most of their adult lives and, often, to default on home loans they cannot afford. Give the people back their power to build small, eco-friendly homes! Let the citizens, not the banks, decide how large or small they would like their homes to be. Overrule all minimum size requirements for dwellings and rooms.
