To protect our freedom of speech in private domains

Donald Sterling was secretly recorded in the privacy of his own home when he negatively spoke about blacks and NBA players. After the tapes leaked, Sterling was forced to sell the team and has a lifetime ban from the NBA. He also faced a $2.5 million fine, which is defined as the “maximum amount” according to the leagues guidelines (CNN). A person should have the right to privacy and be able to speak their mind freely. Fining a man for expressing his personal thoughts and opinions goes against the first amendment that is set forth by the constitution of the United States. If you don’t feel safe to express yourself and speak your mind in your own home then where else can you do it? No matter if what we say is wrong or right we should have the right to give voice to our thoughts.
